Mom Entrepreneurs Need Self-care not Guilt

Most mom entrepreneurs start their businesses to have a career that's flexible enough to have a meaningful family life. We give up the 9 to 5 grind but sometimes we end up feeling guilty. This can be a daily struggle. When you're working, you feel like you should be spending time with your kids. When you're with your kids, you’re worried about work.

Letting go of the guilt is not an easy thing. When you go on an airplane, they say, “Put the oxygen on yourself first. Then take care of your children.” You need to be a whole and healthy person to fully care for your children, business, spouse, home, etc. Just knowing and accepting that allows some of the guilt to go away.

Here are three practical self-care tips that have helped me keep guilt at bay.

First, invest in yourself.

This can involve every aspect of your life, from your health to your spirituality to your emotional well-being. You may think you’re doing things that are unrelated to your business, but you will see the results in your bottom line when you care for yourself.
